Dark Age of the Assamese language

Assamese is a language that is spoken in the Northeastern part of India by a lot of people. A long time ago, a group of people who spoke Assamese lived in a place called Kamarupa. They had their own kingdom, and they were very proud of their language and culture.

But something bad happened. A lot of wars happened, and many people from other places came and settled in Kamarupa. These people spoke different languages, and they started influencing the Assamese language. Also, during this time, there were not many books, and people did not write much in Assamese. So the language did not develop much, and it stopped changing and growing.

This period is called the "Dark Age" of the Assamese language because it did not improve or change much. However, later on, people started writing more in Assamese, and it became an important language again. Today, it is the official language of the Indian state of Assam and is spoken by millions of people.
