ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dasa

Dasa is a Sanskrit word that means ten. In Hinduism, it refers to a period of ten years ruled by a specific planet, which represents a particular aspect of our lives. There are nine planets or Navagrahas in Hindu astrology and each planet rules a dasa.

For example, the first dasa is ruled by the planet Sun which represents the soul or the self. During this period, we may experience a heightened sense of self-awareness and may focus more on our goals and ambitions.

The second dasa is ruled by the Moon, which represents the mind and our emotional nature. During this period, we may feel more sensitive and intuitive and may be focused more on our relationships and emotions.

The dasas continue with other planets and each period has a different theme or energy that influences our lives.

It's believed that the dasas are determined by one's birth chart or horoscope, and they can provide insight into the cycles of growth, challenges, and opportunities that a person may experience throughout their life. Overall, dasa can be seen as a way to help individuals understand their own nature and create a roadmap for personal growth and transformation.
