ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Data aggregation

Data aggregation means gathering and organizing lots of information from different sources into one place.

Let's pretend you have a bunch of toys scattered all over your room. If you want to clean up, you have to pick up all the toys and put them in your toy box. Think of each toy as a piece of data, and your toy box as the place where you're collecting all the data.

Just like you need to sort your toys based on their type or size, data can also be sorted and grouped based on different characteristics. For example, you could group data on toys by their color or by the store they were bought from.

In the same way, companies and organizations may collect data from various sources, such as their website, customer surveys, social media platforms, and sales reports. By aggregating this data into one central location, they can better analyze the information and use it to make important decisions.

Overall, data aggregation is like gathering all your toys into one place so you can see them all together and figure out what you want to do with them.
