De Quervain Syndrome is when you have pain and swelling in your wrist area that makes it hard to move your thumb and wrist.
It happens because the area where your thumb muscle and wrist bone meet gets irritated and inflamed. This can be from doing activities that require repetitive gripping or twisting movements, like playing video games or using scissors.
The swollen and irritated tissue can press on a nerve that runs through your wrist, making the pain even worse. If you have De Quervain Syndrome, your doctor might suggest wearing a brace, doing special exercises or taking medicine to help with the pain and swelling. With rest and proper care, the inflammation should go down and your thumb and wrist should feel better.
