ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Deadlift

Okay kiddo, so the deadlift is a type of exercise where you lift a really heavy weight up from the ground. You stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, and bend down to grab the weight with both hands. Then, you use your legs and back muscles to stand back up, lifting the weight off the ground and into the air.

It's called a "deadlift" because you're lifting the weight up from a "dead" (or still) position on the ground. This exercise is great for building strong muscles in your legs and back, especially your lower back. Plus, when you can lift really heavy weights, you feel like a superhero!

But you have to be careful when doing a deadlift, because you don't want to hurt yourself. That's why it's important to have a grown-up or a trainer show you how to do it properly, and to start with light weights until you get the hang of it. So remember kiddo, deadlifts are a fun and challenging way to build strong muscles, but safety always comes first!
