Deathtrap (plot device)

A deathtrap is a plot device used in stories (movies, books, plays, etc) to create suspense. It is a dangerous situation where the main characters of the story could get hurt or killed. It is meant to create an exciting and suspenseful situation that keeps the audience guessing what will happen next. The deathtrap often involves the protagonist being put in a dangerous situation and then having to find a way to escape, which usually involves them using their wits and skills to get out of it.
