Debeaking

Debeaking is when chickens have part of their beak removed with a hot blade or laser. The reason it is done is to prevent them from pecking each other or themselves.

Chickens sometimes peck each other because they are stressed, bored, or because they are in a crowded space. This can cause injuries and infections, which is not good for the chickens.

By removing part of their beak, it can help reduce the amount of damage chickens do to each other.

However, it's important to know that debeaking can be painful for the chickens, and can interfere with their ability to eat or do other normal chicken activities.

Many people believe there are better ways to prevent pecking amongst chickens, such as providing more space, enrichment, and quality food and water.
