Decan

Decan is short for decantation. Decantation is when you pour a liquid (like wine or liquor) from one container to another. This is done to remove any settling that may have occurred that you do not want in the liquid. The idea is that it will be smoother and taste better if you transfer it to a separate container. By doing this, you are also able to separate the liquid from any bigger pieces of dirt or particles that are floating around in it.
