Defensor pacis

Defensor pacis is a big grown-up word that means "protector of peace."

They wanted to make sure everyone in their country or region was getting along and not fighting. They would talk to different groups of people and try to find ways to solve problems peacefully so that everyone could live in harmony. It was a very important job!
