Deluge myth

The deluge myth is a story that people have told for thousands of years about a great flood that covered the entire Earth. It's like when your bathtub overflows and water goes all over the floor, but on a much bigger scale! According to the myth, the flood was caused by angry gods who wanted to punish humans for being bad and not following their rules.

In the story, one man named Noah (or sometimes it's called Utnapishtim) is warned by the gods that the flood is coming and told to build a big boat called an ark to save himself, his family, and some animals. This ark is like a giant boat that can hold a lot of people and animals and can float on the water.

Once the flood comes, it lasts for a long time, covering everything and causing a lot of damage. But because Noah listened to the gods, he and his family and the animals on the ark are able to survive until the flood finally goes away.

This story has been told in many different cultures and religions around the world, and people still talk about it today. Scientists have even found evidence of massive floods in different parts of the world that could have inspired the story. It teaches us to listen to authority and tread lightly on land as it can be snatched away anytime.
