Densitometry

Okay, kiddo! So densitometry is like when we use a special machine to take a picture of your bones.

You know how bones are hard and strong, right? Well, the densitometry machine can measure how strong and dense they are by sending a little bit of energy through your bones and then measuring how much of that energy comes back.

It’s kind of like how a flashlight works. When you shine a flashlight at a wall, the wall reflects some of the light back to your eyes so you can see the wall.

With densitometry, the machine sends a little bit of energy through your body and then measures how much comes back. This tells the doctors how strong your bones are, and whether you might be at risk for things like osteoporosis.

Isn't that neat, kiddo?
