Dental aerosol

When you go to the dentist and they clean your teeth, they use special tools that spray water and air to clean your teeth really well. Sometimes, tiny droplets of water and bacteria from your mouth can also get sprayed into the air. Those tiny droplets are called dental aerosol.

Dental aerosol is bad because it can spread germs and viruses from one person to another. Just like when you cough or sneeze and your germs get spread into the air, dental aerosol can do the same thing.

That's why dentists wear special masks and shields to protect themselves and their patients from breathing in the dental aerosol. Dentists also use special machines that suck up the air and water droplets to keep the room clean and safe for everyone.

So, even though dental aerosol is just tiny droplets in the air, it's important to make sure we keep it under control so we can stay healthy!
