Desorptive capacity

Desorptive capacity is a big word that means how much stuff can be removed from something else. Let's imagine you have a sponge that is soaked with water. The sponge has a desorptive capacity, which is how much water it can remove from something else. In other words, if you squeeze the sponge, it will release the water it has soaked up.

Desorptive capacity is important in many areas such as the environment and chemistry. For example, if you have a contaminated soil, you can use something called a desorption process to remove the contaminant. This process works by applying a material to the soil with a high desorptive capacity. The material will absorb the contaminant, making the soil cleaner.

So, desorptive capacity is just a fancy way of saying how much a material can remove from something else. It helps us clean up things that are contaminated or get rid of things we don't want.
