Detection error tradeoff

Detection Error Tradeoff is a way to figure out how well something is working. Think of a soccer goal. You want to make it as wide as possible so you can score more goals, but if you make it too wide, then it will be too easy to score a goal. Finding the right balance between the width of the goal and being able to score goals is the "Detection Error Tradeoff". When talking about security, it means finding the balance between having good security but not making it so tough that people can't use it or go through it.
