ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Deutsche Reichsbahn

Deutsche Reichsbahn was a big train company that existed in Germany a long time ago (specifically, from 1920 until 1994). Imagine a train set that you might have at home, but much, MUCH bigger! The company had a lot of trains that went all around the country, carrying people and things like food, clothes, and toys.

Deutsche Reichsbahn was very important because trains were one of the main ways to get around in Germany back then. Just like when you go on a vacation with your family and drive in a car, people used to take trains to travel and see other parts of the country.

But Deutsche Reichsbahn was also important for another reason: it was owned by the German government. This means that the government was in charge of making sure the trains ran on time and that people and things got where they needed to go.

The company had a lot of workers who helped make sure the trains were safe and that people had a good experience on them. There were conductors who checked tickets and made announcements, engineers who drove the trains, and even people who made sure the trains were clean and well-maintained.

Today, Deutsche Reichsbahn doesn't exist anymore, but its legacy lives on. When you ride a train in Germany today, you can thank Deutsche Reichsbahn for helping make it possible!
