Development-induced displacement is when people are forced to move away from their homes because their government is building something new. A government might do this to build a new road, school, factory, or other project that can help the people in that area. Sometimes when this happens, people don't want to move away because they have to leave their friends and family, and they are worried they won't have the same kind of job they had before. To help with this, the government might pay people money to move and try to find them jobs in other places so they can still make money and be close to their families.
