Dhammayuttika Nikaya

Okay kiddo, do you remember learning about Buddhism and the teachings of the Buddha? Well, there are different groups or branches of Buddhism, and one of them is called the Dhammayuttika Nikaya. It is a group of monks who follow a certain way of practicing and understanding Buddhism.

Imagine you have a toy car and you can either drive it fast or slow, turn left or right. Everyone who plays with the toy car may have their own way of driving it, right? Similarly, people who practice Buddhism may have different ways of understanding and practicing it. The Dhammayuttika Nikaya is one of these ways.

The monks who follow the Dhammayuttika Nikaya have a specific way of following the Buddha's teachings. They believe in following a strict set of rules, called the Vinaya, which tells them how to behave and live as a Buddhist monk. For example, they must wear robes a certain way and follow certain dietary restrictions. They also follow a certain meditation practice that emphasizes mindfulness and awareness.

The Dhammayuttika Nikaya originated in Thailand, and it is a smaller group of monks compared to other Buddhist sects. However, they are known for their strict discipline and devotion to the teachings of the Buddha. So, think of them like a smaller group of people who all really like to play with their toy car in the same way, following the same set of rules and techniques.
