ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Difference algebra

Okay kiddo, do you know what math is? It's what we use to solve problems and do things like add, subtract, and multiply.

Now imagine you have a bunch of numbers, like 2, 4, and 6, and you want to do things with them like add, subtract, and multiply them. That's called arithmetic.

Difference algebra is kind of like arithmetic, but instead of just adding, subtracting, and multiplying numbers, we also do other things like divide them and find roots (which are like the opposite of powers).

The funny thing about difference algebra is that it's not just about regular numbers like 2 or 7, but it can also include other things called "variables" which are like blank spaces that can be filled in with different numbers. So we can add, subtract, and multiply variables too!

Overall, difference algebra is just a way to work with numbers and variables in a special way that helps us solve different kinds of problems. It's like doing advanced math where we get to play with numbers and variables in new and exciting ways!
