Difference of Gaussians

Gaussians are special bell-shaped curves used to describe a set of data points. A difference of gaussians is a combination of two gaussian curves. It’s like having two bells that overlap. The two gaussians may be close or far apart, or they may have different heights. This gives you different looking curves with various properties. Difference of gaussians can be used to detect edges or changes in the data. For example, it can be used to identify edges in photos or detect changes in a sound clip.
