ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Diffuser (automotive)

A diffuser is a special part of a car that helps it go faster and more smoothly. It's usually found on the bottom part of the back of the car.

When a car goes really fast, the air around it goes crazy and pushes against it, making it harder to go fast. A diffuser helps reduce this pressure by guiding the air in a certain way. It works by slowing down the air that's flowing underneath the car, which creates a lower pressure zone that helps suck the car down to the ground, kind of like a vacuum cleaner. This keeps the car more stable and allows it to go faster without wobbling around too much.

Think of it like a superhero cape. When a superhero runs really fast, their cape flaps around and creates resistance, making it harder for them to keep going at top speed. But if their cape was designed to flow smoothly behind them, it would actually help them go faster! That's kind of like what a diffuser does for a race car.
