Digital infrared thermal imaging in health care

Okay kiddo, do you know what an infrared camera is? It's a special camera that can see things that are too hot or too cold for our eyes to see. Just like how you can't see the air, but can feel the wind blowing, the infrared camera can "see" how hot or cold something is, even if it's hidden from view.

Now imagine that we use that special camera to look at your body. Our bodies produce heat, and when something is wrong with your body, like an injury or an infection, your body can produce more heat in that area. So, by using this special camera, we can see if there are any areas of your body that are hotter than others.

This can help doctors and nurses figure out what might be wrong and how to treat it. For example, if you have an infection in your ear, your ear might be warmer than usual, and the doctor can see that with the infrared camera. Or, if you hurt your leg, the camera can show where the pain is coming from.

Digital infrared thermal imaging is just a fancy way of saying that we use computers to help interpret the pictures from the infrared camera. It makes it easier for the doctors to see where there might be a problem and to figure out the best way to help you feel better.
