Dinosaurs had many different kinds of diets. Some were plant eaters, some were meat eaters, and some were both. Plant eaters, like the long-necked Diplodocus or the famous giant Triceratops, ate things like ferns, leaves, and other plants. Meat eaters, like the fierce predator T. Rex or the famous flying beast known as the Pterodactyl, ate other animals, like other dinosaurs, lizards, and even fish. Some dinosaurs, like the Stegosaurus, were omnivores, meaning they ate both plants and animals. Because dinosaurs lived so long ago, it can be difficult to know for sure what all dinosaurs ate. But based on fossilized bones, researchers have been able to find out a little about what dinosaurs had for dinner!
