ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Direct reduced iron

Direct reduced iron (DRI) is a type of iron that does not need to be heated in a furnace to be turned into metal. Instead, it uses a gas to make iron from iron ore. The gas makes the iron ore react with other elements to make the iron without it needing to be heated up. This means that DRI iron can be made faster and with less energy than regular iron, making it more cost-effective.
