ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Direct response television

Direct response television is when you see a commercial on TV that tells you to do something right away. It's like when your mom asks you to clean your room and she wants you to do it right away.

When you watch a direct response TV ad, it might tell you to call a number or go to a website to buy something. Sometimes they might tell you to do something else, like signing up for a newsletter.

The reason why some companies use direct response TV ads is that they want to get people to take action right away. They don't want to wait for people to buy something later. They want to make sure that people are interested right now.

So next time you see a commercial on TV that tells you to do something right away, that's called direct response television.
