ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Directional sound

Directional sound is like when you close your eyes and someone talks or makes a noise, you can tell where the sound is coming from. Imagine you're playing a game and you have headphones on, and you can hear a player sneaking up on you from the left because the sound is only coming from the left side. But if they are in front of you, you will hear the sound coming from the front. This is because the sound is being directed to your ears from a specific direction, like if your mom or dad calls you from the living room, you can tell right away where they are just by listening to their voice. It's like your ears have a compass that can tell you the exact direction the sound is coming from. Cool, huh?
