Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space

The Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) is the part of the European Commission responsible for helping to make sure European Union countries work together on defence and space projects. They do this by supporting different kinds of research and development, and by helping to keep defense industry in Europe competitive and focused on producing the best, most modern defense products. In addition, they help to promote European space activities and keep space missions safe.
