Disability anthropology is when we learn about people who are different from us and how they live their lives. Some people have disabilities which means they might have difficulties with things that we might find easy to do. This doesn't mean they can't do things, but it might mean they need some help or support to do things like get around, communicate, or learn.
Anthropologists who study disability try to understand how people with disabilities see the world, and how society treats them. They look at things like how accessible buildings and places are, how people with disabilities participate in society, and what kinds of support is available to them.
This is important because it helps us understand that everyone has different experiences, and many people face barriers because of their disabilities. Understanding these barriers can help us work together to make sure everyone has the same opportunities and can participate fully in our communities.
