Discovery Institute intelligent design campaigns

Okay, so imagine you're in school and your teacher is talking about things like science and how we know things about the world. There are some people who believe that there is a different way to explain how things got here and how they work, and they call it "intelligent design."

Now, these people are part of a group called the Discovery Institute. They really want people to believe in intelligent design, so they run campaigns to try and get people to believe in it. They might put up posters or make videos or talk to people about it.

But a lot of scientists and other smart people think that intelligent design isn't really a good way to explain things. They believe in something called "evolution," which is a different way of thinking about how things came to be the way they are. So there's a big debate about which of these ideas is right.

One thing to keep in mind is that scientists use something called the scientific method to figure out how things work. That's when they ask a question, do some experiments or observations, and come up with a hypothesis (like an idea or explanation). Then they test the hypothesis and see if it's right or wrong. That's how they learn things!

So even though some people like intelligent design, most scientists believe in evolution because it's been tested and proven in many different ways. That's why you might hear people talking about this topic, because it's a big debate between different ideas about how the world works!
