ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Display resolution

When you look at a picture on a screen or TV, it has lots of tiny dots called pixels. The resolution is how many of these dots there are on the screen. Think of them like stickers or LEGO blocks that come together to make the picture.

The higher the resolution, the more dots there are, which means the picture looks clearer and more detailed. It's like having more stickers on a page or more LEGO blocks to make a bigger house.

So for example, if you have a screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720, that means there are 1280 pixels going across the screen and 720 pixels going down the screen.

The higher the resolution, the more work the device has to do to display the picture, which is why some devices may have trouble with running high resolution content.

Higher resolution devices are better for things like watching movies, playing games or doing work that requires a lot of detail on the screen, while lower resolution devices are more suited for basic uses like browsing the web or checking e-mails.
