ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dog agility

Dog agility is like a fun game that dogs and their owners play together. It's kind of like a race where the dog has to run really fast and do a bunch of different things at the same time.

First, the dog starts at one end of the course and has to jump over some small fences called hurdles. These hurdles are set at different heights depending on the size of the dog.

Next, the dog has to run through a tunnel that is made of fabric. The tunnel is kind of like a small cave that the dog has to crawl through.

Then, the dog has to weave in and out of a bunch of poles that are set up like an obstacle course. The dog has to go in and out of each of these poles without touching them.

After that, the dog has to go over another hurdle and then climb up and down a teeter-totter. The teeter-totter is a long narrow board that is balanced in the middle. The dog has to run up one side and then down the other without it hitting the ground.

Finally, the dog ends the race by running through a long tube that is set up like a hoop. This is called the tire jump.

The owner has to run alongside the dog the entire time and use hand signals and voice commands to guide the dog through the course. If the dog makes a mistake or doesn't do something correctly, they can lose points or get a time penalty.

Agility is a really fun way for dogs and their owners to get exercise and work together as a team.
