ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Doneness

Doneness is when you cook something just the right amount so that it's not too raw and not too burnt. It's like cooking Goldilocks' porridge - you want it to be just right!

When you cook different foods, like meat or vegetables, they have different levels of doneness that you want to achieve. For example, you might want a steak to be cooked all the way through or just a little pink in the middle (this is called rare, medium, or well-done).

You can tell if something is cooked to the right level of doneness by checking the color, texture, and temperature. For meat, you might use a thermometer to check the temperature to make sure it's safe to eat.

So, doneness is basically the way that you cook your food so that it tastes delicious and is safe to eat!
