ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Double-deck elevator

A double-deck elevator is like a tall bus that goes up and down inside a building. Instead of having only one floor for people to stand on inside the elevator, there are two floors! This means that more people can fit inside and go to different levels of the building at the same time.

You know how when you go up in an elevator, it takes a little bit of time for it to stop and let people off at their floor? With a double-deck elevator, the people on the top floor go first and get off, and then the people on the bottom floor get off. This makes it faster for everyone to get where they need to go!

There are also lots of special safety features to make sure that the elevator stays on the right track and doesn't crash into anything. And even though it might seem scary to be so high up, double-deck elevators are built really strong so that everyone stays safe.

So, next time you go inside a tall building and see a double-deck elevator, remember that it's like a giant moving bus that helps lots of people get to different levels quickly and safely!
