In Greek mythology, the dragon's teeth were a magical weapon given to a hero called Cadmus. Cadmus had been told to find a special cow by the gods and then to follow her wherever she went. When the cow stopped, Cadmus planted seeds in the ground. When he did, warriors burst out of the ground! These warriors were called the Sparti and they were very fierce fighters. In some versions of the myth, Cadmus threw stones into the ground and the same thing happened—the Spartans just appeared out of nowhere! The dragon's teeth were powerful and could help protect Cadmus in battle, as well as get him through any dangerous situation.
