Drain (surgery)

Drain surgery is a type of surgery where a doctor puts a tube (called a 'drain') into your body. The drain helps to remove extra fluid, fluid that may not be able to drain on its own. This extra fluid can come from inflammation, an infection, or a build-up of pressure in the area. By using the tube to drain the fluid away, the body can heal better.
