ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dramatic theory

Dramatic theory is the study of stories, characters and the way that stories work. It looks at how characters interact with each other in a story and how stories are structured. It helps to explain why certain characters do certain things, how stories are able to move people and why some stories are more popular than others. It tries to explain why some stories are exciting, funny, scary or sad, and how all these different emotions can be triggered in people when they watch or read a story.
