Dreadnought hoax

A dreadnought hoax was a practical joke that happened in 1906 when an English newspaper reported that a new type of battleship, called a 'dreadnought', had been built and was the most powerful battleship ever made. The news was ALL made up, but lots of people believed it and were fooled into thinking it was true. It was amazing that people believed it, as it was very clearly made up and even used made up words! The joke was done to show how easily people can be tricked if something exciting is being reported.
