Drift hypothesis

The drift hypothesis is a scientific theory about how species change over time. It says that sometimes a species can change even if there is no particular reason why, like if there is no pressure from the environment to cause it to change. It is like if a species just drifted along without any real direction. This could lead to a new species eventually being formed as some of the characteristics of the original species become more prominent in the population over time.
