ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Droit

Droit is a French word that means law. Law is like the rulebook that tells us what we can do and what we cannot do. Just like how at home we have some rules like cleaning our room, not talking back to our parents, etc. The law is the set of rules that we all have to follow as a society.

For example, we have laws about how fast we can drive our cars, how old we have to be to drive, and when we have to stop at a red light. These rules keep us safe and make sure everyone is following the same rules.

Droit is a word that is used in France to talk about the law. Just like how we have the police who make sure everyone is following the rules, in France they have the droit which is the set of people who make and enforce the laws.

Droit is essential to make sure everyone is treated fairly and that we all know what is expected of us. It is like the referee who makes sure everyone is playing by the same rules, and no one is cheating.
