Drunken monkey hypothesis

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a monkey? They like to climb around and swing from tree to tree. Well, some scientists came up with an idea called the drunken monkey hypothesis.

Basically, they think that when our hairy cousins (monkeys) eat fruit that has overripe and fermented, it can get them a bit tipsy, like when our parents drink alcohol. The monkeys might act silly like they're drunk, walking funny, making weird noises or falling over.

The scientists believe that over a long time, the monkeys who could handle the fermented fruit better, survived better and passed on their genes to their babies. And that's how the ability to digest alcohol better became a part of the monkey's DNA.

Some humans also come from places where they have eaten fermented fruits a lot, like in some parts of Asia, and so they can handle alcohol better than others. Pretty cool, huh?
