Dry county

Okay kiddo, do you know what alcohol is? It's a drink that can make grown-ups feel funny or dizzy.

Now, in some places called "counties," people have decided that they don't want to let grown-ups drink alcohol at all. That means there are no bars, restaurants or stores where they can buy beer, wine or other alcoholic drinks.

People who live in these counties have to go to another place where alcohol is allowed if they want to drink or buy some. And if they get caught with alcohol in the dry county, they might get in trouble with the law!

It's like if you were told you can't play with your favorite toy, you would have to go to a friend's house to play with it. Some people like it this way because they think it keeps their community safer, and other people think it's not fair because they like to drink sometimes.
