ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dual object

Okay, so imagine you have two toys that are connected to each other and they always move together. This is kind of like what a dual object is in math. It's like two objects that are linked in a special way.

In math, when you have something called a "vector space" (which is like a big group of things you can add and multiply together), you can make another "vector space" that's kind of like a twin to the first one. It's called the "dual vector space" or "dual object" for short.

So if you have a bunch of arrows (or "vectors") that you can add and multiply together, you can also make another set of arrows that work with the first set in a special way. These new arrows are like twins to the first set, and they help us understand things about the original set that we might not have been able to figure out before.

It's kind of like having a mirror image of your toys – you can see more about them and how they move together when you look at their reflections. The dual object is like a mirror image of the first set of arrows, and it helps us learn more about how they work and how we can use them to solve problems.
