ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Durood

Durood is a special kind of prayer in Islam. It is a way of praising God and asking for blessings. The words of the prayer can be different depending on the type, but it generally starts off with "Allaahumma salli 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa ali Muhammadin", which means "O God, grant peace and blessings to Muhammad and his family". Then, the prayer is ended with something like "wa sallim", which means "and give him peace". People can either say this prayer once or many times, depending on their faith. When it is said, it is important to make sure your heart is filled with love and respect for Allah while you recite it.
