The Dutch Famine of 1944–1945 was a period of time during World War II when the people of the Netherlands (a country in Europe) had almost no food to eat. This happened because the German military forces occupying the Netherlands stopped food from getting to the country, so people had to go without food for a very long time. Poor people in big cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam suffered the most, and some people even died from not having enough food to eat.
