ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dynamic positioning

Dynamic positioning is a boat or ship's ability to stay in one place without using anchors. It uses powerful thrusters (like a jet engine) to stay in a fixed position even when there are strong winds or currents. Some ships, like deep-sea vessels, need to stay in one spot to do their job and dynamic positioning makes it possible to do that without the need for anchor chains.
