ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

E6 (mathematics)

E6 is a mathematical concept that helps us understand how things move and change in space. Imagine you have a big bag of crayons, each in a different color. Now, if you take one crayon and move it to a different place, it creates a different picture. That's kind of like what E6 is all about - it takes something and moves it around in a special way.

But instead of crayons, E6 uses something called a Lie algebra, which is a collection of mathematical objects that are used to study symmetries and movements. E6 is a particularly interesting Lie algebra because it has a lot of cool properties that make it useful for solving problems.

In fact, E6 is so important that it pops up in all sorts of areas of math and physics, from geometry and topology to string theory and quantum mechanics. So even though it might seem like a complicated thing, understanding E6 is actually really important for understanding the way the world works!
