ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Early Norwegian black metal scene

Once upon a time, in Norway in the late 1980s and early 1990s, a group of musicians got together and made a type of music called "black metal". They were very serious about their music and they wanted to make it sound really dark and scary. They wore black clothes and painted their faces white and black like ghosts or demons.

These musicians were very passionate about their music and they wanted to do something different from other bands. They wanted to embrace the darkness and chaos of life and death. They also wanted to rebel against the mainstream culture of their country and the world.

So, they started creating music that was really loud and fast, with really intense drumming and growling vocals. They also wrote lyrics about death, suicide, Satan, and other dark themes. They called themselves "Black Circle" and they started to gain popularity in the music scene.

However, things soon got out of hand. Some of the members of Black Circle started to take their dark beliefs too seriously. They burned down churches and attacked people who they thought were against them. This caused a lot of controversy and fear in the country.

The police started investigating the group and many of the members got arrested. Some of them even went to jail. This led to the end of the early Norwegian black metal scene. However, their music and their legacy lives on. Many people still listen to their dark and intense music and are fascinated by their story.
