Earth normal section

An earth normal section is like a picture of what the inside of the Earth looks like. It helps scientists study how the Earth is made up and how it works. Think of it like a giant cake that we want to see the layers of. But instead of slicing the cake, we have to use special tools to look inside the Earth.

To make an earth normal section, scientists use information from earthquakes. When an earthquake happens, it sends waves, kind of like ripples in a pond, through the Earth. Scientists use these waves to help them figure out what's inside the Earth.

They put all the information together on a big chart called an earth normal section. This shows us all the different layers of the Earth, like the crust, the mantle, and the core. We can see where they are and how thick they are.

The crust is the thin outer layer of the Earth, like the skin on an apple. The mantle is the thicker layer beneath the crust. It's like the fruit of the apple. The core is the very center of the Earth, like the seeds in the apple.

Scientists use the earth normal section to learn more about the Earth's history and how it's changing. It's kind of like a map that helps them explore the inside of the Earth without actually going there.
