Economic history of Taiwan
Taiwan is like a big store where people make and sell things. A very long time ago, there weren't many stores in Taiwan and people just did their own stuff like fishing and farming. Then, other countries came and wanted to trade with Taiwan because they had good things that people wanted to buy.
One of those countries was China, and for a long time, Taiwan was a part of China's store. But then, something called a "civil war" happened in China, and some people wanted to be in charge of the store and have all the money. Another group of people didn't like that, so they decided to leave China's store and make their own store in Taiwan.
At first, it was hard because they didn't have a lot of money or things to sell. But then, they started making things like clothes, toys, and electronics that people all around the world wanted to buy. This made the Taiwan store very rich and famous.
But sometimes, other stores like China and the United States didn't like how successful Taiwan was and wanted to take away their customers. They tried to stop people from buying things from Taiwan by putting up walls and making it hard to trade. But the Taiwan store was very clever and found new ways to sell their stuff, like working with other stores to make new things.
Today, the Taiwan store is still doing very well and making lots of cool and useful things. They are continuing to find new ways to sell and grow their store, and people all around the world still love to buy from them.
