Ecotoxicity

Ecotoxicity is when something harmful to the environment makes animals or plants very sick.

It's like when you eat something that makes you feel sick or have a stomach pain. Animals and plants also have their own "stomachs" called cells, and when they are exposed to harmful things like chemicals or pollutants, these cells can get really sick too.

Sometimes these harmful things are introduced into the environment by humans, like when we dump trash in the ocean or release chemicals from factories. Even things like medicines and pesticides that we use to protect plants and animals can be harmful to the environment if they are not used properly.

When animals or plants are exposed to harmful things that cause ecotoxicity, they can become very sick and may even die. For example, if a fish swims in water that has been contaminated by chemicals, it can absorb those chemicals through its gills and get sick. If a plant takes in polluted soil, it might not be able to grow properly, or it may become diseased.

Ecotoxicity is a very important thing to think about because we want to protect our environment and the animals and plants that live in it. That's why scientists study ecotoxicity to better understand how we can prevent it and keep our environment healthy.
