ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Education in Spain

Okay kiddo, do you know what education means? It is the process of learning new things like reading, writing, counting and many others. In Spain, children usually start their education at the age of 3 in what they call "educación infantil", which is like preschool.

Once they turn 6, they start their "educación primaria", which is like elementary school. In this level, they learn different subjects like math, language, social studies, and science. They also have art, music, and physical education classes. They study and have exams like you do in your school too.

After completing "educación primaria", they move on to "educación secundaria" or middle school from ages 12 to 16. Here they study more complex topics such as physics, chemistry, biology, and history. They also get to choose a foreign language such as English, French, or German.

When they are 16, they choose to continue their studies in "educación postobligatoria" or high school for two years or choose to attend vocational training centers which provide more practical education for specific trades like electrician, carpenter or plumber.

After finishing high school, they can attend university to get a degree. The universities in Spain offer a wide variety of courses, including specialized education in almost all fields of study.

So that's how the Spanish education system works! It's important for children to study hard and learn as much as they can to achieve their goals in the future.
